We offer subscriptions in two forms - selective and charter

Selective Subscription

A selective subscription will allow a subscriber to choose six titles from among our ten releases of the year 2007. The selective subscription price is $1200, which is a savings of $129 per album over the retail price. A subscriber may purchase additional albums from the 2007 Tape Project releases for the same $200 per album price. Shipping will be charged above and beyond the subscription price, since tapes are much heavier than CDs and shipping rates will vary around the world. A deposit of $600 is all that is required to secure a subscription. The balance of $600 plus the year's shipping charges will not be charged until shipment of your first selections.

Charter Subscription

This has become our most popular level of subscription. A charter subscription delivers all ten 2007 titles to the subscriber. And for the charter subscriber we reserve a low serial number that will match on every album delivered. You will receive a certificate verifying the serial number you have been issued upon your subscribing. You will also have the right of first refusal for that serial number if you choose to continue your subscription the next year, thus allowing a renewing charter subscriber to acquire an entire matched serial number set of all Tape Project releases over time. The price for a charter subscription is $2000 and as a special offer for year 2007 subscribers we will include the shipping to US and Canadian addresses.

Q: Can I roll my subscription into the next year?

A: A charter subscription purchases at wholesale pricing all the titles of a single, specific year. And a selective subscription is also for 6 of the 10 titles offered in a single, specific year at wholesale price. These real time master duplicate tapes are very expensive to make, and our licenses are limited in duration. The combination of high materials cost and limited license duration means that we need to have a good picture of how many of each of the year's titles to make early on, and thus a commitment from our subscribers to buy the year's releases in order to get wholesale pricing. If one just wants to select a couple of individual titles before making a subscription commitment we will also offer all available titles at the retail price of $329 per album, for the duration of our license. Individual albums will go on sale after we have fulfilled all outstanding subscriber orders.

Q: But how can I know in advance if I will like the music? 

A: You can do what we did. We went out and acquired CD or LP versions of any album title we considered before purchasing it. You might even find a lot of the material on iTunes, or maybe even free MP3 samples on the web. Of course none of these media will begin to approach the sonic quality of 15 ips half track tape, but they will give you a feel for the music. And we're pretty sure you will feel the music, because if it doesn't move us, we don't license it.

Q: How soon will you deliver the first tape?

A: The long process of getting our duplicating facility up and our packaging custom manufactured is now complete and we are proud to announce that tapes are being packed and shipped! Tapes are being produced in their catalog number order, and they will be shipping to subscribers as they are made ready.
