packing a deck for shipping |
Shipping the Technics decks requires very secure packing. We have a custom shipping box available that has been sized specifically to carry the Technics RS1500/1506/1700/1520 decks securely, with or without the side panels attached. If you are shipping a machine to us we can provide one of these shipping boxes for a $75 deposit that is refundable with the return of the box in good condition (price does not include shipping charges - box alone weighs approx. 12 lbs.) The box includes all the necessary materials for securely packing the deck. Use the instructions below to assure that the deck is packed as intended. |
Begin by putting the blue foam circles on the rear feet of your machine. |
Leave the large foam panel in the base of the box, and leave the "top of deck" and "bottom" panels in place. Place RS1500/1506/1700 in the center of the box. Place RS1520 with bottom of deck against bottom foam panel. |
Cover the deck with the cloth. |
Insert the side panels that are marked "Remove while packing". Note the X and Z marks that match up to the top foam panel. |
Insert
foam panel labeled "top filler" at top of deck. If the deck is
an RS1500/1506/1700, insert filler panels at the bottom of the deck. An
RS1520 with feet will not need these fillers. This deck has side panels
and uses thin side fillers. If the deck does not have side panels
attached, you may need to insert the thicker fillers included, on each side of the deck. We
recommend shipping decks to us for mods with the side panels removed.
Keep them at home to assure that they won't be damaged. |
Lay in bubble wrap to fill the space above the face of the deck. |
Insert one more large foam panel. Please be sure to include a sheet with your name and the serial number of your deck. After you insert the sheet you can tape up the box. It may be worthwhile to label the top, and be sure to insure your deck! |
